Bernard J. “Bernie” Dube, 82, of Newburyport, MA passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Fitchburg, MA, October 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jane Dube. He was a Catholic with French Canadian family roots, Bernie lived a life defined by hard work. He was dedicated to his family, faith and country.

Bernie was proud to serve in the US Navy from 1964 – 1966 where he was a radio operator aboard the USS Northhampton, (CC-1) and received an honorable discharge.

Bernie worked as a meat cutter for Stop & Shop for over thirty years until his retirement.

He was a loving husband to Julianne P. Dube and a devoted father to Stephanie Dunn and Wayne Dunn of Merrimac, MA, Carolyn Janvrin and her partner John Lane of Seabrook, NH and Joseph Dube and Heidi Dube of Amesbury, MA. He leaves behind his sister Carol Mscisz and husband Chester of Topsfield, MA, his nephews Mark Mscisz and Lyn of Topsfield, MA, Steven Mscisz of Gloucester, MA. He was preceded in death by his nephew John Masiz. He was a grandfather to Tyler Janvrin and wife Isabella, Madison Janvrin, Delaney Janvrin, Zachary Dunn, Zoe Dunn, Justin Dube, Haley Dube and he was a great grandfather to Andino Janvrin.

Our father had a passion for the outdoors, he loved nature and was an animal lover. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, gardening, fishing and cooking. He was an amazing cook and was proud of it! When he wanted to treat himself it would always be lobster! He had a quick wit and loved to laugh. He never tired of Christmas Vacation, Elvis or carving the turkey at Thanksgiving.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 27th from 12-4 PM at the Elliot, Woodworth & Rogers Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 42 Green Street, Newburyport, MA followed by a graveside service at Old Hill Cemetery, corner of Low Street and Pond Street, Newburyport, MA.
