Bertha I. (Prescott) Bowe

d. November 18, 2023

Bertha I. (Prescottt) Bowe, age 99, of Newburyport, former longtime resident of Salisbury, passed peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Advinia Care, Country Center Nursing Home in Newburyport, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John Gus Bowe.

Born in Machiasport, Maine, June 23, 1924, she was one of 12 children of the late Alphonse L. and Edith Prescott, and had attended school in Machiasport.

Growing up in a very large family, everyone had their special duty to help with everyday tasks and Bertha took that to heart. She grew up knowing that she would fulfill her dream, and live life to its fullest, which is what she did with much determination and joy. She was a food vendor at Salisbury Beach and befriended countless people from all corners of the country, and also ran the Carnivals at Salisbury Beach. It was a lot of work, but she enjoyed the crowds and the enthusiasm of people who would return year after year, and Bertha was always there to greet them with a huge smile, and, “It’s great to see you again!!”

Priceless memories will continue to be treasured by her only daughter, Patricia A. “Tish” Saucier; her granddaughter, Patricia E. “Trish” Saucier; her six great-grandchildren, Raven, Patricia, Samantha, Chelsea, Jackie and Tina; her ten great-great-grandchildren, John, Isabelle, Gracia, Niveah, Vienna, Cameron, Grace, Willow, Oliver and JJ; and her very special friend, Virginia Mcarione. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her two grandchildren, John Frolich and Laurie Frolich, along with her eleven siblings.

There will be an hour of visitation on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10 to 11 A.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by Funeral Services at the funeral home at 11 A.M. with a burial at Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury, where Bertha will be laid to eternal rest.
