Bonnie Adams

On Monday, September 9, 2024, Bonnie Adams of West Newbury, MA, a beloved mother,
wife, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 79. She is survived by her husband, Bob Adams, her sister, Carol Plunkett, her daughter, Hanna Adams, her son, Rob Adams, and his wife, Katie Adams.

“Bonnie Jean, Lipstick Queen” was born in Haverhill, MA, on June 12, 1945 and graduated from Newburyport High School. She pursued and received her bachelor’s degree from Salem State College. She then began her teaching career in Ipswich, MA. A break from teaching was next as she raised her family, though she couldn’t deny her passion for educating much longer and soon started her many years teaching fifth grade at the Page School in West Newbury, MA.

Aside from teaching, Bonnie also loved and had a great talent for gardening. She was a long time member and one time President of the Newburyport Garden Club. Summers were joyfully spent on the water, boating with her family from the Cape to Maine. Always with a beaming, radiant smile, surrounded by laughter, often singing and dancing, Bonnie was the life of the party.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bonnie’s name to the G.A.R. Memorial Library in West Newbury, MA or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Calling hours will be from 9-10:30 am on Friday, September 20 at the Elliot, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home on 35 Green Street in Newburyport, MA. A private graveside service will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Newburyport, MA. A very Bonnie-appropriate Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
