Bonnie Jean Surowiec, 36, of Amesbury, MA passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, surrounded by family after a sudden and brief illness.
Bonnie graduated from Amesbury High School in 2006, achieved her associate in music at Northern Essex Community College, 2009, bachelor’s in music education at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, 2012 and recently earned her Master of Music degree at Gordon College in 2023.
She held many musical positions in her young life including Music Teacher at St. Mary’s Early Education & Elementary School, Band Director and Music Teacher at Lowell Catholic High School, Youth Choir Director/Media at Groveland Congregational Church and most recently started her dream role as Music Teacher and Choir Director at Hampstead Middle School.
Her love of music extended to every facet of her life. She not only sang, but played the Piano, Ukulele, Clarinet, and Flute and taught voice and instrument lessons individually. She participated in the annual production of A Christmas Carol at Northern Essex Community College and loved being able to teach young children and adults alike to help hone their musical craft.
In addition to music, one of Bonnie’s passions was riding motorcycles. She shared this passion with her father and enjoyed taking long rides as well as participating in charity and memory runs as a member of the Patriot Riders, Mass Chapter 1. She was proudly voted in recently as Vice President. She was a member of Bingo Nation and Mc’d Musical Bingo at various southern NH establishments.
Bonnie is survived by her parents John & Alena Surowiec, her brother John Jr., wife Melissa and daughter Savanna, sister April, husband Andy, nephew Derek and niece Melanie, and sister Alison, husband Shawn, nephews Nathaniel & Tristan and niece Genevieve, husband Calvin and their children Payton and Jaxson. She thought of her younger cousin Morgan Bennett as a little sister and fondly took her under her wing. She is also survived by her grandparents Ross & Iris Galemore, her uncle Stanley Surowiec, aunt Deborah Cedano, uncle Richard Carlson her cousins Stacey Bennett & Shawn Carlson and their families. In addition to family Bonnie was loved by many and will be missed dearly by her friends and supporters.
Bonnie was predeceased by her grandparents, Mary & Ignacy Surowiec, her uncles Ross and Roy Galemore and aunti, Wanda Carlson.
Her favorite song lyric was from the hymn Hallelujah. “It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift. The baffled King composing Hallelujah.â€

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, followed by a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home at 2 P.M.
