Carol A. (Keefe) Kimball

d. February 4, 2024

Carol A. (Keefe) Kimball passed away peacefully in Newburyport, MA on February 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind her husband Jeff; a daughter, Heather L. Tarantino and her husband, Paul of Holden; two sons, Sean S. Kimball and his wife Jennifer of Hopkinton and Darin P. Kimball and his wife Sara of Boxborough; eight grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Julia, Parker, and Alexa Kimball and Sarah, Jeffrey, and Michael Tarantino; and her brothers Kevin O’Keefe and his wife Jennifer of Lincoln, CA and Dennis Keefe and his wife Lee of Newburyport.

Carol was the daughter of Thomas and Marge (Cronin) Keefe and was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY along with her brothers. After high school, Carol graduated from White Plains Hospital School of Nursing and then began her career as a registered nurse in Boston. She was a nurse for over 40 years, with most of that time spent in the operating room where she was known to run a tight ship. Carol also continued her education, earning a BS in Psychology & Sociology from New Hampshire College.

She and Jeff met in Boston and spent their more than 53 years of marriage together moving between their primary residence and their peaceful getaway in Chatham. They lived in Tewksbury, where they raised their children, and later Newburyport. Carol never shied away from an adventure and she and Jeff traveled the world together, with her favorite stops including Italy, France, Ireland, and Scotland.

Carol was most at ease in Chatham, spending time clamming, gardening, and gathering with family and friends. She was an amazing cook and, although there is some debate about what her signature dish was, her clam chowder was second to none. She could rescue even the most desperate of plants and was a lover of ice cream, beagles, and spending time with her family. Carol will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday February 23, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Funeral Home at 2 Hillside Ave, Amesbury, MA. A private funeral service will be held for Carol at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/).
