Claire M. (Macdonald) Preston Eaton

Claire Marie Eaton, 97, of South Hampton, NH died peacefully at home on March 23, 2024.

Claire and her first husband Philip Preston were natives of Lynn MA. She graduated Salem Hospital School of Nursing in the 1940’s and went on to work in Danvers State Hospital during the war. Retired from nursing to raise three sons, Claire returned to nursing at the end of the 1960’s. She worked as an emergency room nurse at Lawrence General Hospital and went on to become an industrial nurse at Raytheon in Andover. She also worked with elderly patients in Exeter NH and finished her career doing bloodmobiles for the American Red Cross.

After the death of her husband Philip in 1977, Claire married Calvin Eaton of S. Hampton NH in 1986. He passed away in 2003. Claire was beloved wherever she worked and lived. She was a beautiful woman, positive and always smiling. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her three sons, Ronald Preston (Karen), S. Hampton, NH, Paul Preston (Nadean), Lee, NH and Robert Preston (Eileen), Arundel, ME. Claire is also survived by her three granddaughters, Anne Preston, Emily Clarke (Greg) and Carolyn Preston (Evan) and her great grandchildren, Aria, Theron, Keira and Calvin. And her step children, Brenda McDonald, Donna Mansur, and Calvin Eaton Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service for Claire Eaton on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 1 P.M. at the South Hampton Baptist Church, 10 Jewell Street, South Hampton, NH. A private graveside service was held at the Union Cemetery in Newton, NH where Claire was laid to eternal rest. Arrangements were made with Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA.
