DAVID CARTER WEBB, April 27, 1951 - December 4, 2024

Beloved Father, Grandfather, Husband, Architectural Preservationist, and Environmental Steward

David “Peeps” Carter Webb, a devoted family man, renowned architectural preservationist, and passionate environmentalist, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, at the age of 73. A lifelong resident of Newbury, Massachusetts, David dedicated his life to preserving both the architectural beauty and the natural heritage of his community. His commitment to sustainability was reflected in every aspect of his life, from his work to his personal values. David led by example with his small carbon footprint, championing eco-friendly practices in his everyday life and in the historic buildings he worked so tirelessly to preserve.

Born in Boston in 1951, David was raised in the coastal town of Newbury, where he developed a deep connection to the natural world around him. He found particular solace in the salt marshes, where he spent countless hours observing the rhythms of the tides and the changing seasons from his home. This love for the environment extended beyond his personal life and into his professional work, where he sought to blend preservation with sustainable practices, ensuring that New England’s architectural treasures were preserved with respect for the land and future generations.

David’s environmental consciousness was also reflected in his everyday choices: from growing his own food and working in his garden to using sustainable materials in his woodworking. He was a man who believed in the importance of living harmoniously with the natural world, and his impact as an environmental steward is as lasting as his legacy in architectural preservation.

David is survived by his children Jessica (Michael) and Justin (Liana), his cherished grandchildren Madalyn, Anna, Luci, and Oliver, and his wife Pam MacDonald. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Arlene Webb, and his sister Susan. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched through his work, kindness, and example.

A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Trustees of Reservations, a cause that David held close to his heart.

David’s legacy lives on in the buildings he preserved, the natural world he nurtured, and the love he shared with his family. He will always be remembered for his dedication, warmth, wicked sense of humor, and the quiet strength he brought to all that he did.
