Diana F. Packer, aged 89, and resident of Newburyort, MA, died on November 15, 2024 from complications stemming from heart failure.

Born on May 20, 1935 in Mystic Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Veronica Packer. She attended Robert E. Fitch High School and graduated from Connecticut College for Women in 1957. She went on to graduate school at the University of Georgia, earning a Master’s Degree in Botany. Diana began her career as a researcher at United Fruit Company’s laboratory in Norwood, MA, but soon decided to become a high school science teacher. After many years of teaching in several Eastern Massachusetts school systems, she finished her teaching career at Melrose High School before retiring and moving to Newburyport.

As a homeowner she took great pleasure in gardening, enjoyed art, reading and became a Red Sox baseball fan. She was a skillful and crafty tournament Bridge player.

Diana is survived by her brother, Giles Packer and his wife Joan of Farmington, CT; nephew, Daniel Packer and his partner Jennifer Huggins and children of Block Island, RI; cousins, Norman Packer and wife Helen of Mystic, CT, Andrea Ungher and her partner, Louis Catania of Norfolk, MA, and Victoria Apsit, and Judith Olsen both of Wrentham MA.

There is no funeral planned. Her ashes will be buried at the Packer Family burial plot at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic, CT. Arrangements were by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
