Donald Collins, of Newton, NH, formerly of Lovell, Maine, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 13, 2025 at The Haven at Lee Assisted Living Center in Lee, NH., where he was so lovingly cared for and loved by all who resided and worked there.
He was born in Lynn, MA on September 9, 1948, and grew up in Saugus, MA and later in life Don moved on to Maine. He was a very humble, kind loving Soul who would always extend a helping hand to all who needed it. He shared his love, heart and soul. He did many odd jobs through the years and learned a lot about people and their trades.
In 1985 he married the Love of his Life, his Soul Mate, Thelma Croteau, and remained married until her passing in 2006. After Thelma’s passing, he then resided with his brother, Michael Collins and his wife Ida Mae until 2022, then he resided with his sister, Kathy Hopkins and her husband Steve, and as of September 10, 2024, he moved to The Haven at Lee Assisted Living at Lee, NH. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sister, Kathy R. Hopkins and husband Stephen of Newton,NH; five nephews, Alfred Landry, Michael Collins, Matthew Collins, Robert Collins and Jeremy Collins; three nieces, Marjoire Collins, Elsa Collins and Mary Jane Weaver, along with many great-nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard W. and Muriel D. Collins, five brothers, Richard W., Michael G., Bruce D., William D. and Timothy J., and his beloved late wife, Thelma (Croteau) Collins.
Family and friends are warmly welcome to calling hours on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2 to 4 P.M. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913, immediately followed by a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home at 4 P.M. There will be no burial of ashes whereas it was Donald’s wishes to be scattered out to Sea. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Donald R. Collins may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
