Doris L. (Butland) Vynorius, age 95, resident of West Newbury for 75 years, passed peacefully at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on Wednesday evening, September 25, 2024, after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of 43 years to William J. Vynorius, who passed in 1993.
Born in Amesbury, January 5, 1929, she was one of five children of the late Clarence L. and Mildred C. (Truesdale) Butland and was a graduate of Amesbury High School.
Married at an early age, she was the mother of 4 boys, always there to guide them, encourage them, and love them unconditionally. She embraced her role as being a mother, loved to cook and bake, tend to her orchard and gardens, and her doors were always open to family and friends.
Doris was a longtime member of the West Newbury Congregational Church where she made many friends and helped with countless church functions. For several years, Doris had worked at the Page School in West Newbury, in the cafeteria serving lunch to the children.
She leaves behind her son James Vynorius and his wife, Janice, her grandchildren, who brought her much joy, her grandchildren, Billy, Tracy, Caitlin, Andrew, Jesse, John, Benjamin; Erin and Joshua; several great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, Mary Lou Vynorius and Bonnie Vynorius, along with several generations of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends from near and far. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by three sons, Wayne Vynorius, Robert Vynorius and Larry Vynorius; daughter-in-law, Theresa Vynorius, and her siblings, Clarence “Bucky” Butland, Jr., Leonard Butland, Albert Butland and Ethel Miller.
Visiting hours will be held at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 4 PM to 8 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10 A.M. at Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury, where Doris will be laid to eternal rest beside her husband, William. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hedgehog General Store at 6 Morrill Street, Amesbury, MA 01913 immediately after the Graveside Service.
