Dorothy (Peterla) Leblanc

d. April 25, 2024

Dorothy (Peterla) LeBlanc of Andover MA, formerly of Newburyport MA, and Amesbury MA, passed away on April 25 at the age of 104, a month shy of her 105th birthday. She was the daughter of the late Gustav Peterla and Catherine (Bednar) Peterla of Amesbury, and sister of the late Gustav Peterle, William Peterla, and Ruth Peterla.

Dottie was born at home in Amesbury MA, on May 27, 1919, and raised in Amesbury. She married the late Leo LeBlanc of Amesbury (divorced) and had two children.

Dottie was an avid reader, knitter, baker and walker. Upon her retirement from Brazonics in Amesbury she became one of the first residents of the James Steam Mill in Newburyport, and could often be seen on her daily walk of High Street or getting a bagel at Abraham’s.

She leaves behind two children: Gary William LeBlanc and wife JoAnn Barbour of Essex MA, and Julie Ann LeBlanc and wife Ellen Cutler of Apache Junction AZ; grandchildren Aaron Craig Drouin and Casey Nathan Drouin; great-granddaughter Avery Quinn Drouin; niece Helen Peterle; and nephews George Peterle and Miles Peterle.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to the Atria at Marland Place in Andover and High Pointe House hospice in Haverhill for their loving care of Dottie in her final days.
