DWIGHT ALLEN DEGUIO, AGE 73
APRIL 25, 1951 - APRIL 27, 2024
Dwight Allen Deguio was predeceased by his father, Raymond A. Deguio, mother, Grace A. Deguio, and brother, Dana Deguio, all of Amesbury. Dwight died unexpectedly at at his home on April 27, 2024, after a long illness that resulted from being seriously injured in a multi-car accident in 1986.
He graduated from Amesbury High School, Class of 1970, and from Essex Agricultural and Technical School in 1973, receiving an Associates Degree in Natural Resources and Horticulture.
He was a devoted worker and supervisor for Huberman Nursery Company in Saugus, MA and was driving to work along Route 1 in Lynnfield, when he was involved in a dreadful multi-car accident that left him as a quadriplegic which changed his life forever.
After a very long recovery period and therapy, Dwight was confined to a wheel chair. He lived with his mother Grace until her passing in 2006. He was an extremely happy and gracious person and enjoyed watching sports, collecting stamps and listening to classical music. He could often be seen going around the neighborhood visiting the neighbors and bearing gifts for their children. Often he could be seen sitting at the end of Cushing Street waving to his friends passing by or riding down Elm Street on his way to one of his favorite restaurants. Everyone enjoyed seeing him and enjoyed the jokes of the day he would tell.
He is survived by his brother, David R. Deguio and wife Beverly of Amesbury; sister-in-law, Marlene of ME; six nephews, Craig, Keith, Raymond and Andrew Deguio, and Shawn and Matthew Kelley; seven grand nieces and nephews, Jamie, Jack, Nicholas, Jordyn, Aiden, Alexis and Owen; and two cousins, Marjorie McCabe of Amesbury and Robert Mann of Chichester, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dwight Deguio can be made to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952 or to the organization of the donor’s choice. Private memorial services and interment at Mount Prospect Cemetery, Amesbury, are at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Paul C.
