Florence Marciszka, born in Presque Isle, Maine, comfortably passed away at the age of 103 on Saturday, March 2, at the Andover Manor Nursing and Rehab, where she had been a resident for the last 6 years.
Florence shared life with two husbands who have both passed on: Colburn Estabrooks and Stanley Marciszka. Of four children, three have preceded Florence in being promoted. They were Betty Rajotte of Haverhill; Phyllis Desmet of Lawrence and Richard Estabrooks of Newburyport. Florence’s surviving son is Ron Estabrooks (NHS 68), who lives in California with his wife, the former Cynthia Davis, two children and one grandchild.
As the eldest of ten siblings, who all left this earth before Florence, I can not attempt to include names nor can I accurately account for the many living grandchildren, lots of great-grandchildren and a fifth generation arm of the family. Mother Marciszka can be considered nothing short of our family Matriarch. Not to be forgotten, when Mom was ten years old, her Mother passed away, and Mom became the “mother†for her siblings getting everyone fed, cleaned up, dressed, and off to school; did household chores; and helped where Dad needed help on the family farm.
Florence’s last job was at Western Electric in North Andover. She enjoyed several positions during her lengthy tenure there, where she was always proud to tell people that she was a CWA local union employee.
During these last years, a couple of family members have always made themselves available when help was needed for Mom, and I know she would like for me to thank: Janice (niece) and Bob Catanzaro of Haverhill; Kathy Nelson (granddaughter) of Haverhill; Val (grand-niece) and Mike Horgan of Haverhill, and Kim and Jim Potts of Rowley. Also, the family would like to thank Andover Manor and all their staff for the very caring attention for Florence’s comforts and needs.
An hour of visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 10 to 11 A.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by a the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home at 11 A.M., with burial at Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport, where she will be laid to eternal rest. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that a donation be made to either a dementia or cancer charity.
