Gerald Leigh Noyes, 87, current resident of Salisbury, Massachusetts, passed peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, December 28, 2023 after a short period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Janice (Littlefield) Noyes for 33 years, and he was the cherished husband of the late Sandra “Sandy†(Reske) Noyes for 20 years.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, December 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Roswell and Gladys (Jewett) Noyes and brother of the late Anne (Thomas) Johnson, and late Roswell Noyes Jr. (Maryanne). He grew up spending all of his summers at his cottage on Plum Island, and learned to fish and swim in the Atlantic Ocean.
“Jerry or Pete†as he was known by many, had worked for years for his father at Noyes Engineering in Detroit, and then went on to work at World Headquarters for General Motors until retiring over 20 years ago.
He loved camping and fishing, tinkering with his cars, and spending quality time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who held a very special place in his heart.
He leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories that will always remain in the heart of his daughter, Gail Rowinski and her children, Emily (Matthew) Sullivan and David (Laura) Willmer, his daughter, Cheryl Gallo and husband Joseph and their children Julie and Kellie, and his son, Gerald L. Noyes, Jr and his children Caera and Keegan, and granddaughter, Samantha (Michael) Wilson. He also leaves behind children of his second wife Sandy and their families, Pam Satterlee , Joyce (David) Gerrie, Norman (Tammy) Reske and Gayle (Vince) Vettese and their children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents and both his wives, he was also predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Dewitte and her children Ashley and Abbey.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport, on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11 A.M. where he will be laid to eternal rest. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Greater Boston Food Bank, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
