Helen (Galuska) Braman, just two days shy of her 104th birthday, passed peacefully on Saturday morning, January 13, 2024 at Avita of Newburyport Assisted Living Center, surrounded by her loving family. she was the devoted wife of her husband, William P. Braman who passed on August 18, 2002.

Born in Fall River, MA on January 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Stefania (Sliwa) Galuska and was a graduate of Fall River High School.

A loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen took great pride in being a mother, taking care of her children and her home, and being loving and supportive, not only for her family but also within her community. In their retirement years, Helen and Bill enjoyed traveling with their family and friends.

Helen had worked as a stitcher at the former Anderson Little Clothing Store as well as Sears Roebuck, where she was a clerk in the mail order department.

Helen and her husband “Bill” were very active members of Central Congregational Church throughout their lifetime and had raised their children in the Church as well.

A life well lived and well loved will always be remembered by her daughters, Carol A. Blackburn of Newburyport and Sue Ellen Scovotti and husband Ralph of Plaistow, NH; two granddaughters, Tiffany a. Blackburn and husband David and Nicole M. Dumas and her husband Jason; two great-grandchildren, Leo and Victoria; her brother, Edward Galuska; along with several generations of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bill, she was also predeceased by her sister, Sophie Jarosz.

The family is truly grateful for the wonderful care Helen received from the the very special people at Avita of Newburyport, for continuing to make her life so meaningful during her last years.

A private burial will take place at Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport, where Helen will be placed to eternal rest beside her dearest husband, Bill. Arrangements were made by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
