Herbert N. MacRae, age 94, of Haverhill, passed peacefully at Penacook Place Nursing Home in Haverhill, after a period of declining health, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his dearest wife, Peggy (Haines) MacRae, who passed in 2013.
Born in Boston, May 1, 1930, Herb was the son of the late John and Minnie (Pike) MacRae and was a graduate of Lynn High School.
He served with the United States Air Force from July 13, 1951 until his
honorable discharge on November 06, 1956, with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his military service, he went on to continue his education,
receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University.
For many years Herb had worked for Delta Engineering in Winchester, MA,
where he was a very valuable employee for their company.
In his down time, he loved all kinds of music. He had a studio at his home where he had thousands of 45’s records and he would make mixed tapes to send to his friends in the music Club. He also volunteered at the Beverly Council on Aging, proud to be able to help others.
His life’s legacy will continue to be treasured by his two sons, Steven
MacRae and his wife, Laurie and William MacRae and his wife, Amy; his six grandchildren, all of whom he cherished
from the bottom of his heart, Christopher, Bethany and her husband Austin, Michael and his wife Stefanie, Jason, Megan, and Will; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Mariel, Vivianne & Lucas.
An hour of visitation will be held at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul
C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, MA from 10 to 11 A.M. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home, then a procession to Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 185 Lake Street, Peabody, MA, where Herbert will be placed beside his beloved wife, Peggy, where they will be together forever in eternity.
