Newburyport - Irene S. (Lysik) Plouff, of Newburyport, MA, passed away peacefully in Newmarket, New Hampshire on November 11, 2024, at the age of 96.
She was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts on January 4, 1928. Irene was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, known for her kindness, compassion and remarkable sense of humor. Irene was predeceased by husband Raymond L. Plouff who passed away in 2018, as well as her parents Paul and Josephine Lysik, her 5 sisters; Annie Darbyshire, Helen Koch, Julie Lysik, Frannie Chouinard, and Pauline Lysik, and 1 brother; John Lysik, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Carol and her husband Ron Leary and her son Stephen Plouff and his wife Roxanne. Irene's family was the center of her world. She was very proud of her granddaughter, Tina, and her husband, Ryan Duntley. Her great grandsons, Nick and Josh Duntley, brought her endless joy and were a source of great pride. She also leaves behind numerous generations of nieces, nephews and cousins, and extended family that she loved dearly.
Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Irene was known for her unwavering kindness and her ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness, and she touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and warm heart. Irene found joy in simple pleasures and hobbies that reflected her creative spirit. She was an avid bowler. As a talented artist, she loved painting and drawing and was a skilled quilter. Her artistic endeavors were not only a testament to her creativity but also a way to connect with others and share her warmth and humor.
Irene's legacy is one of love and laughter, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, a testament to a life well-lived and a spirit that will never be forgotten. In honoring Irene's memory, her family invites those who knew her to remember the joy she brought into their lives and to celebrate the remarkable strong woman she was. Her spirit will live in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will be cherished forever.
A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. The family will have a private burial in the Spring of 2025 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Amesbury, MA, where she will be laid to eternal rest.
