James A Soffron, Jr.

James A. Soffron, Jr., age 58, longtime resident of Newbury, passed in the peaceful presence of his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, comforted by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for several months, regretting that he no longer will be able to help the many clients he has served over all the years.

Born in Newburyport, March 5, 1967, he was the son of James A. Soffron, Sr. and his late mother, Susan B. (Packer) Lee, who passed in 2009.

James was a graduate of Whittier Tech Regional High School in Haverhill. With the skills he learned at Whittier Tech, he went on to become an exceptional electrician as well as the Assistant Wiring Inspector for the town of Newbury. He started his own business, Soffron Electrical Contractors of Newbury, and had expanded his business over 26 plus years of service throughout the North Shore of Massachusetts, providing all aspects of electrical work, with friendly service and professional workmanship, guaranteed.

He leaves behind his husband and best friend, Chad Gorham-Soffron of Newbury; his father, James A. Soffron, Sr. of Portsmouth NH; his step-mother, Linda Soffron of Portsmouth, NH; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Gorham of North Attleborough, MA; his brothers, Roy Carlson of Andover, NH; J.B. Lee of Rochester, NH; his sisters, Karen Pearson of Amesbury, Kathy Thompson of Ipswich, Betsy Marshal and her husband Kevin of Exeter NH, and Barbara Webb and husband Patrick of St. Petersburg, FL; his Godfather, Dana Cador of Ogunquit ME, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends, many colleagues, and last, but not least, his beloved cats, Maybeline and Daisy.

Visiting hours will be held at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4 to 7:30 P.M. immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 7:30 P.M. Private family services will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, 990 Middle Road, Portsmouth, NH 03801. Donations in his memory can be made to Mass General Hospital Fund or the Merrimack River Feline Rescue, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952.
