Joy Ann (Cunningham) Piecuch 64, passed away August 26, 2024 at High Pointe Hospice House surrounded by her loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Haverhill, MA on September 1, 1959, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, and daughter of the late Gheen & Mary Lou (Paone) Cunningham. Joy attended Saint James Parochial School, later to graduate from Haverhill High School.

Joy started her career in her loving mother’s footsteps as a hair stylist at their Salon, “Walnut Square Beauty Bar”. She later became a preschool teacher for over 20 years, along with 23 years as a kindergarten religious education teacher for Saint James Catholic Church, touching the lives of countless children. Joy and her husband David were married for 40 years. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, as well as taking care of and teaching her beloved grandson David, her “Sugar Bear”.

Joy is predeceased by her brother Bob Cunningham, nephew Rob Cunningham, and cousin William Macek. Joy leaves behind her husband David Piecuch, daughter Monica Piecuch of Haverhill, daughter & son in-law Laura & Joseph Muzykoski of Haverhill, grandson David Muzykoski, sister in-law Jeanne Cunningham of Haverhill, niece Sarah Cronin, nephews Matthew Cunningham, Dan Macek, Nic Macek, several cousins, especially Maria Macek, Chuck Paone, as well as several other, nieces, nephews & friends.

A special heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of the Anna Jaques Cancer Center for their outstanding care.

An hour of visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, Winter Street, Haverhill, with a Graveside Service at St. James Cemetery, Haverhill, where she will be laid to eternal rest. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Joy A. Piechuch to Anna Jaques Cancer Center Education Fund for nurses or MSPCA.
