Joyce M. (Murphy) Meekins

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Joyce Marie (Murphy) Meekins, age 76, of Amesbury, MA, on December 9, 2023. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Joyce is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Edward Joseph Meekins.

Joyce was born on May 29, 1947, in Woburn, MA, to the late Chester P Murphy and the late Helen ‘Emma’ (Annessi) Murphy. Throughout her life, she was an active member of the community, where she made lasting friendships.

She had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Andre Bessette Church. Joyce was also involved in the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and the Prayer Shawl Ministries. She had a passion for playing mahjong and enjoyed crocheting.

She will be deeply missed by her two loving sons, Jarod Meekins and wife Terrie of Salisbury, MA, and Joseph Meekins and wife Adriana of Amesbury, MA; her beloved daughter, Justine Fairchild and husband James of Exeter, NH, and her cherished grandchildren, Madison Fairchild, Kaitlyn Fairchild, Lily Meekins, and Matthew Meekins. She leaves behind her brother, Chester P. Murphy, Jr. and wife Anna of Winchester, MA, as well as her sister, Mary Frances Murphy of Woburn, MA, along with extended family and many, dear, dear friends.

Joyce Marie Meekins will be forever remembered for her kind spirit, loving nature, and dedication to her family and community. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 9 to 11 A.M. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Church of St. Andre Bessette Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, and burial at Union Cemetery, Amesbury. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Joyce M. Meekins, to Dana Farber Cancer Research, a cause that was close to her heart.
