Judith A. (Scamporino) Mackie, age 78, of Amesbury, MA, passed away on January 11, 2024, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Steven Mackie for thirty-six years.
Born on May 17, 1945, in Haverhill, MA, Judith was the daughter of the late Raymond J. and the Lillian (Strangman) Scamporino. Judy, as she was known by many, had worked at the IRS and was known for her cosmetologist license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Judy was a cherished member of the Central Congregational Church in Newburyport and a member of the Newfoundland Club of New England. She had a deep love for her Newfoundland dogs, having them as companions for over twenty years. Judy enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, going for walks, watching soap operas on television, and spending time at her sister’s house at Seabrook Beach.
She is survived by her three sisters, Janice Furlong and her husband Carl of Brunswick, Maine, Shirley Lucia and her husband Daniel of Haverhill, MA, and Joan Easterling and her husband Horace of SC, along with several nieces and nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents, Judy was also predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Young, as well as Evelyn’s husband, Arthur.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, from 4-7 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Central Congregational Church, 14 Titcomb Street, Newburyport. Burial at Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s memory can be made to the NCNE Charitable Fund (Newfoundland Club of New England), care of Cindi Goodwin, POB 659, Belmont, NH 03220.
