Judith “Judy” Estella (Sawyer) Wright, 86, passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Attleboro on Friday, February 28, 2025. She was the devoted wife of Moses Edward Wright III, whom she married June 23, 1957, and who passed away June 10, 2017.
Born September 27, 1938, in Amesbury, MA, to Myrtle F (Delong) Sawyer and Frederick Sawyer in Amesbury and her father in life Henry Sawyer. She leaves behind her brother, Ralph Sawyer and his wife Beverly and was predeceased by her brother Richard Sawyer.
She is survived by her four children, M. Edward IV and Karen Wright, Leigh and Beth Wright, Steven and Ann Wright and Kristin and James Toomey. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Steven (Abie) and Jessica Wright, Jessica L. Wright, Katelyn and Phil Marchessault, Evan Toomey and Jeff Toomey. She also leaves behind her many extended grandchildren and adored great grandchildren.
Judy graduated from Amesbury High School in 1956, participating in Glee Club, Tri-Hi-Y, and Basketball. She met her true love, Ed, while working at Hytron. They began a family on Hanover Street in Newbury. Then moving to High Street in Newburyport to raise their children. You could find her supporting them at little league, music events, and school plays along the way. Hosting many Yankee Homecoming parade get togethers became an annual event. Bowling league at the Port Rec and Ladies golf league at Olde Newbury were some of her favorite activities. She also dedicated a brief career in caring for others at Country Nursing Home on Low Street.
In retirement she enjoyed snow birding between Fort Myers, FL, and Ossipee Lake, NH, her favorite paradise. While in Fort Myers, she enjoyed golfing with friends she made, even recording a hole-in-one! Ultimately settling in Ossipee to watch sunsets and beautiful scenic mountains, Ossipee brought her great joy. Especially when family or friends paid a visit for countless boat rides aboard the Tanya II. (Named after their beloved Elkhound). You could find her spending Idle Hours relaxing on the deck, making puzzles, playing cards or games, even taking family hikes in the bog. Her legacy lives on in the warmth of Mimi Hugs, the laughter shared over brownie sundaes, and the countless cherished memories made on the waters of Ossipee.
Her family sends sincere thanks to the staff at both Brookdale and Lifecare of Attleboro for befriending and caring for her over the past few years.
