Ken Gray passed away on October 22, 2024, at the age of 74.
Ken was a beloved figure in his community and family. He grew up in Reading, MA, where he met the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Donna (Adams). The couple settled in Andover, raising their four children: Jannette Kirby and her husband Bryan of North Andover, Adam Gray of Boston, Deana Gilbride and her husband Sean of North Andover, and Karyn Morse and her husband Patrick of Pelham, NH. Ken was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Morgan, Kiera, Jameson, Grayson, Griffin, and Sydney, all whom he doted over. He could often be found on the sidelines of their sporting events, cheering the loudest. His love for travel was evident in his extensive journeys all across the globe, marking each destination on his “famous” pin board.
Ken’s professional journey was marked by significant achievements in the semiconductor equipment industry, where he worked from the mid-1980s. He held prominent positions at MCT, Aseco, Delta Design (Cohu), and Northwave Technology, where he was the founder and CEO. In 2013, he pivoted to a career in public service, becoming the Mayor of Amesbury, where he served three terms. His tenure in office was a period of profound personal fulfillment. Ken also engaged in real estate, contributed to various non-profits as a board member, and was an active member of the Finance Committee in North Andover.
Beyond his professional life, Ken was passionate about antique cars. You could often find him tending to his favorite ‘57 T-Bird, “Elizabeth” or tucking her in at night with her monogrammed car cover. He was the founder of the annual Amesbury antique car show in 2016. This event has become a cherished local tradition, raising tens of thousands of dollars for local non-profits.
Ken received his degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University, which underpinned his professional accomplishments and his analytical approach to both his career and hobbies.
Ken’s vibrant spirit shone through in every endeavor. He left an incredible mark on the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy will forever be a source of inspiration to all those who knew and loved him.
Services to honor Ken’s life will be held on Monday, October 28, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Paul C Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA.
