Lisa D. (Vinton) Duxbury

d. March 15, 2024

Lisa D. (Vinton) Duxbury, age 50, a resident of West Newbury, passed away at Mass General Hospital on Friday evening, March 15, 2024, after a courageous battle against Lupus which caused her liver to fail.

Lisa was a best friend to her husband, John R. Duxbury, II with whom she shared 23 wonderful years of marriage. Lisa and her son, John Byron, were very close.

Born in Brockton, on November 13, 1973, she was the daughter of Byron and
Linda (Matson) Vinton. Lisa graduated from Bucksport Maine High School, Class of 1992. Lisa went on to attend the University of Nebraska.

Lisa worked as an EMT for 25 years. During those years she worked in the cities of Lowell, Lawrence, Salem, and Lynn. Lisa also worked for the town of West Newbury as a Firefighter, EMT, and Fire investigator. During her career in EMS and as a Firefighter/Fire Investigator, Lisa was introduced to the law enforcement side of public safety. It was there that she found her true calling as a police officer. Lisa passed the entrance exam to enter the Federal Law Enforcement Service. Lisa graduated in July of 2017 from the Federal Police Law Enforcement Academy located in Glynco, Ga., in the top one percent of her class. Upon returning from graduation Lisa worked at the Portsmouth Navy Yard. Lisa was always the ultimate professional which resulted in her promotion to the rank of Sergeant / Watch commander. Many of the officers Lisa worked with called Lisa “MOM”. Lisa always put the men and women that she worked with first, even during her difficult health battle. While in the hospital and up until the moment of her passing, Lisa was still expressing her concern for them.

Lisa was well-loved and will be missed by her husband, John; her son, John Byron; her daughters Morgan (husband, Chris) and Cassandra; her parents Byron and Linda, and her many extended family members. Lisa’s passing results in a deep sadness for her colleagues at the Navy Yard, and the dear friends she developed during her time working as a Police Officer, Firefighter, and in EMS with her special “sister” friend, Liz Carritte,

There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Lisa at a later date and time. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making donations in her memory to Mass General Hospital Liver Transplant Program. Arrangements were made with the Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
