Maria "Mary" Roberta (McGowan) Mitchell

Maria “Mary” Roberta McGowan Mitchell went peacefully home on January 24th, greeted by her parents Robert “Emmett” McGowan and Lillian Cundari McGowan. 

Mary was raised in South Boston close to her many Aunts and Uncles and had the fondest memories of her time there. As a teenager, she moved to Rockport where she would eventually meet her husband Russell Mitchell, celebrating 57 years of marriage. 

Together they would raise their three children, Kelly, Kristen and Stephen, whom she was very proud of. Her family grew with the addition of two grandchildren, Jordan and Morgan, and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Carter, who brought her much joy. 

Mary dedicated her life to her friends and family, she was kind, selfless and loved by all who were blessed to have met her. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph Church of St. Andre Bessette Parish, 2 School Street, Amesbury, MA. Arrangements were made by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
