Marjorie (Woodsom) Sicard

d. June 3, 2024

Marjorie (Woodsom) Sicard passed away in Newburyport, MA on June 3, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Marge was born on February 3, 1937 in Amesbury, MA to Jewell Douglas Woodsom and Stella Marie (Gallagher) Woodsom. She was raised on Amesbury’s Woodsom Farm, the second youngest of nine siblings. Growing up on Woodsom Farm instilled in Marge a strong work ethic and a sense of duty to her family, traits she carried with her throughout her life. She often recalled fond memories of her childhood, particularly with her two closest sisters in age, Mary and Sally. The three youngest siblings enjoyed swimming, driving horse drawn carriages and sleighs, and causing good clean mischief on the farm. In high school, she met the love of her life, Phil Sicard. Their early romance was kindled around the Captain’s Well in Amesbury following football and cheer practice and resulted in four wonderful children and a triumphant sixty year marriage.

Marge and Phil built their home on Weare Road in Hampton Falls, NH in 1961. Known as The Acre Lot, their home was where they raised their four children, Steve, Keith, Kyle, and Cindy. Marge enjoyed her years working as a bookkeeper at Johnson Lumber and at Apple Hill Golf Course in East Kingston. Marge and Phil retired at an early age and traveled extensively throughout South America and the United States during their marriage. They also spent time living abroad in Scotland.

She and Phil spent half the year in Port Charlotte, Florida as residents of the Newport Golf & Country Club. Marge relished her time in Florida, which was spent with family from Montreal and New England, as well as friends new and old. Marge was a member of the Newburyport Lodge of Elks and the Punta Gorda Lodge of Elks. She and Phil golfed, traveled, and socialized frequently, both in Florida and New Hampshire, and above all else, they truly enjoyed life. Besides her husband, Marge’s greatest love was for her 4 children, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. They were truly the light of her life.

She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Phil Sicard, her granddaughter, Kristie Sicard, and her siblings: Harriet Woodsom Gould, Ruth Woodsom Twomey, Anna Woodsom, Eleanor Woodsom DuGrenier, and Helen Woodsom MacBurnie. She is survived by her siblings: George “Tedda” Woodsom, Mary Woodsom DuGrenier (Gary), and Sally Woodsom Anderson. She is also survived by the family she and Phil built together: her children, Steven P. and Karen Sicard of Seabrook, Keith and Ann Sicard of Hampton Falls, Kyle and Teri Sicard of Lebanon, ME, and Cindy and John Q. Adams III of West Newbury, MA. Marge is survived by her grandchildren: David Provencher, Jeffrey Provencher, Candice (Adam) Krans, Steven P. (Christy) Sicard Jr., Nikole (David) Provencher, Ashley (Kurt) Serveiss, Brittany (Nick) Madden, John Q. Adams IV, Cameron Sicard, and Samantha Sicard. Finally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren: Joshua Harvey, Cole and Kailin Provencher, Carter and Philip Krans, Zaylee Sicard, and Quincy Madden. Margie is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and innumerable lifelong friends.

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 10 A.M. at Oak Lawn Cemetery on Nason Road in Hampton Falls, NH. Arrangements by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA.
