Mary “Joan” (Corey) Tindle, aged 90, passed away at her home on January 4, 2025. She is survived by her son, Doug and his wife, Julie of Milton, Georgia and her daughter-in-law, Joanne Tindle of Salisbury. She was a loving grandmother to Robert and wife, Kayla, William and wife, Kristina, Michael, Jack, George and Lauren; and great-grandmother to Stella, Lillian and Quinn. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert F. Tindle, as well as her loving sons, Robert F. Tindle, Jr. and Jonathan M. Tindle.
Joan was born in Newburyport in 1934 to Arthur and Helen (Quill) Corey. She was the sister to Dick Corey, Ginger Beaton, Kathy Boothroyd, and Susanne Gallagher. She was a graduate of Newburyport High School and then worked at the Bell Telephone Company before getting married. She then managed her husband’s small business while raising her 3 boys. Her greatest joy was being a mom and would do anything for her children. She loved gardening, knitting, the beach and was an avid reader. Joan spent significant time pursing these activities at her family’s cottage on Plum Island each summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital via stjude.org or a charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Joan Tindle.
A private service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newburyport.
