Mildred Gloria (Hirtle) Rexford

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mildred Gloria (Hirtle) Rexford, age 95, of Salisbury, MA, who passed away on February 29, 2024, at Port Healthcare and Rehab in Newburyport. Mildred was predeceased by her devoted husband of many years, Arthur Rexford.

Born in Malden, MA, February 11, 1929, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frank W. Hirtle and the late Annabell (Harper) Joyce. Mildred worked at Mr. Mikes and had a love for gardening, going to the beach, feeding birds, and other critters.

Mildred is survived by her son Greg Greelish and wife Ellen of Hampton Falls, NH; daughter Carol Salvatore and husband Brent of Kingston, NH; seven grandchildren, Tanya Salvatore, Chris Hood, Kimberly Hayward, Patrick Hood, Thomas Greelish, Keagan Greelish, and Caitlynn Rexford; nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her daughter, Anne Hood; brothers, Frank Hirtle and Harold Hirtle; and sisters, Helen Hanson, Arlene Comeau, and Joan Nicole.

Calling hours for Mildred will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 4-7 PM at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, followed by a funeral service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred’s memory can be made to Homeland Heroes Foundation, 10 Delaware Drive #1, Salem, NH 03079.

Mildred will be dearly missed and remembered for her love of nature, family, and dedication to her community. May she rest in eternal peace.
