Nancy Meehan

d. December 16, 2023

Nancy Meehan, born on October 7, 1947, in Tampa, Florida, to Francis and Phyllis Meehan, was a devoted mother. She is fondly remembered by her children—Michael Docteroff of Tallahassee, Florida, and Patrick & Elizabeth Docteroff of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Nancy leaves a profound legacy of love for her grandchildren, Marisa Colon of Orlando and Matthew and Christopher Docteroff of Pembroke Pines.

Survived by her siblings Janet Nolan of Swampscott and Bobbi Courtney of Newburyport, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Daniel Nolan, and her nephew DJ Nolan. She is also survived by her niece Jaime Cohane of Marblehead and her nephew, Christopher Sullivan of Beverly.

Nancy graduated from Melrose High School in 1966 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tampa in 1971. Later, in December 1983, she achieved a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Barry University.

In 1984, Nancy began a meaningful career as a Social Worker for the Broward County School District, dedicating herself to collaborating with families and professionals to ensure each student could reach their highest potential. Upon moving to Massachusetts in 1992, she served as a Social Work Coordinator in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Salem Hospital, offering tremendous support and advocacy for numerous families. Nancy also served as a crisis team social worker throughout the HES system on the North Shore of Boston.

Nancy’s influence extended beyond her professional life into the arts and entertainment industries. During the late ‘80s, she contributed to a Jazz Publication in South Florida, where she had the privilege of interviewing acclaimed Jazz musicians, including Grammy Award-winning artist Ramsey Lewis. Her passion for the arts led her to found, own, and operate The Raven Fine Art Gallery in Marblehead, Massachusetts, in 1994.

With a love for life that was as multifaceted as her interests, Nancy enjoyed the beach, skiing, animals, and connecting with people through the arts. Her impact touched many lives, and she will be dearly missed.

Calling hours and a memorial service will be held at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950, on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023 from 3 to 5 P.M. followed by the Memorial service.
