Newbury - Long time Plum Island resident Geoffrey Wood passed away on May 15, 2024, after a period of long illness.

Geoff was born in Oswestry, Shropshire UK to Albert and Margaret (Grindley) Wood. He studied Zoology at the University College of North Wales followed by several years of graduate work in zoology and education. He taught science for over a decade, and on three continents, primarily to high school students.

He worked as a Park Manager for the Massachusetts Dept. of Conservation & Recreation for 26 years, and devoted much time and attention to Belle Isle Marsh Reservation in East Boston to
restore its natural habitat.

He loved the natural world and was a keen birdwatcher well known in the local birding circles. In retirement he made time for many other interests such as gardening, astronomy and language
learning. He made every day count and lived every day to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Linda, daughter Melanie, son-in-law Greg and brother in law Tim Joyce of Dorchester .

At his request there will be no services, however a get together for Geoff’s friends and family will be held at a later date.
