Marilyn Klypka-Simpson
Our beloved Marilyn left this world on Monday, June 10, 2024, and is now part of the energy that surrounds us sending her caring vibes as a reminder to love one another and appreciate the simple things.
Every once in a while, we encounter a special person whose influence makes us better people. Those of us who knew sweet Marilyn can attest that she certainly fit that bill and gifted us with her authenticity, love, patience, forgiveness, and understanding.
Born in New Jersey and as a young adult she cast her lot in New England. She settled first in Salem, Massachusetts where she earned a BA in Theater Arts, and then moved to Essex where she spent many joyful years raising her 2 sons, Yuri and Vernon. The last 13 years Marilyn lived in the beautiful hamlet of Lake Attitash, Amesbury.
She was a woman of many talents with a creative spirit. Whether she was manning her ice cream truck, directing the Youth Commission, capturing life’s special moments through her photography, or finding new recipes, her unique sense of curiosity was evident.
Caring for those in need was one of Marilyn’s many gifts. She unselfishly shared her compassion and acceptance, making connections beyond the individuals and becoming part of their extended families. It wouldn’t be surprising to find Marilyn’s name in the dictionary under the word resilience, because she handled her adversities with dignity, optimism, courage, and above all perseverance.
In her final moments she was surrounded by the lucky ones who were closest to her, loving son, Yuri; life-long friend and big sister, Terri; caring brother, Mark; sister via friendship, Angel; plus her “favorite brother-in-law”, Joe.
A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday June 27, 2024, at Cider Hill Farm from 3:30 to 6:00 PM. Honoring Marilyn’s competitive nature and love of games, we will be playing Left, Right, Center. Please bring 3 one-dollar bills to participate. All winnings with be donated to the Amesbury Senior Community Center.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Friends of the Amesbury Council on Aging, 68 Elm Street, Amesbury, MA 01913. Checks can be written to SCOA and please indicate in the memo, in memory of Marilyn Klypka-Simpson.
