Patricia E. (Greeley True

Patricia E. (Greeley) True, age 75, lifelong resident of Merrimac, passed peacefully on Thursday evening, December 21, 2023 at Benchmark at Rye, NH, after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen P. True, who pass on November 17, 2022.

Born in Amesbury, January 26, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Evelyn M. (Andrews) Greeley and was a graduate of the former Merrimac High School. She furthered her education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston State College.

Pat, as she was known by many, was an elementary school teacher at the Sweetsir School in Merrimac, was a dispatcher at the Merrimac Police Department, taught English as a second language at Northern Essex Community College, and had been the Town Clerk of Merrimac for 21 years. With her diverse work background, Pat knew just about everyone in the Town of Merrimac, and was a wealth of knowledge for within the Merrimac community.

She never had children, but was stepmother of Stephen’s two daughters, Elizabeth Ann (True) McKenney, and Arlene Patricia True; step-grandmother of three grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband Stephen, Pat was also predeceased by her brother, F. Bradford, Greeley.

A period of visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 from 10’30 a.M. to 12 Noon at Paul C. Rogers family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, followed by a Funeral Service at the funeral home at 12 Noon, then the burial at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, where Pat will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved husband, Stephen.
