Richard J. Cummings

Richard Cummings of Georgetown, MA, died peacefully on June 27 after a brief illness.

He spent his early life in Lynn, MA, where he was born, and was a Salem High School Graduate.

Dick was a retired USCG Reservist and he worked at General Electric Gear Plant in Lynn until he retired.

Dick decided to spend his retirement in Newburyport as Assistant Harbormaster where he worked until May of this year. If he wasn’t training a bat to eat spaghetti or bringing home a monkey for a pet, he was exploring the open waters while creating a lifestyle that many would call eccentric.

Dick always loved a good party and his personality was one of a kind. He had a huge influence on many when it came to his career and hobbies and had a deep passion for animals, water and anything with horsepower.

Dick is survived by his wife, Marie; daughters Kim and Alyssa; sons Jereme and Matthew, and several grandchildren.
