Richard Paul Dole

Richard P. Dole, age 67, longtime resident of West Newbury, passed peacefully on Wednesday morning at Anna Jaques Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Rebecca Colby Dole, having been married for 40 years.

Born in Boston, January 23, 1957, he was one of four children of the late George and Patricia (Henchey) Dole. He grew up in Groveland and was a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School.

Richard was an aircraft mechanic working at Port City Air in Portsmouth, NH. With his exceptional skills as a mechanic, he turned into a “Mr. Fix It”, helping countless friends and family, especially his brother, John.

He was an avid hockey player, spending his free time either playing hockey or watching hockey. He was a good friend to many, always had a smile on his face and a great disposition.

His treasured memories will continue to warm the hearts of those he loved so dearly, his wife, Rebecca; his brothers, James Dole and his wife Maribeth and John Dole; his sister, Kathy Meltsakos and her husband Paul, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family, many dear friends, and last but not least, his two beloved dogs, Jaime and Colby, who held a very special place in his heart. Richard was predeceased by two of his very good friends, Billy Goodwin and Jimmy Billis and will be re-united with them forever.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 11 Stewart Street, West Newbury, starting at 12 P.M. and going all day. Memories will be shared, great stories will be told and much laughter will be heard throughout the day. Arrangements were by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA.
