Roberta J. (Fischer) Knight

d. February 24, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Roberta Joy (Fischer) Knight, age 83, on February 24, 2024, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA. Roberta, a loving wife, stepmother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Born on August 17, 1940, in Lawrence, MA, Roberta was the daughter of Adam Martin Fischer and Hertha Johanna (Gross) Fischer. She worked as a registered nurse at the Lawrence General Hospital and was an active member of the community.Â

Roberta, a gifted soprano, loved singing with her sister Bernice with the Choral Society in Lawrence and Andover.

She and her husband David enjoyed their many trips to St. John, sailing and camping in the Virgin Islands, sailing and canoeing at the family camp in Maine, and spending time at the American Yacht Club. She loved to socialize and celebrate holidays, buying presents and baking cookies for everyone.

A friend and confidant, she would always give it to you straight what she thought. She was proud of her German heritage. Roberta loved to do puzzles, cross-stich, and read Agatha Christie and the Avengers.

Roberta is survived by her beloved husband of many years, David H. Knight, as well as her stepchildren David Knight, Jr. and his wife Debbra of West Newbury, Bonnie Ann Knight of Newburyport, and Robert Kezer Knight and his partner Karine Scialom of Medford, MA. She is also survived by David Knight III, his wife Erin, children Phoenix and Scarlet of Merrimac, and Kristen Knight and her husband Dillon Kelly of Seattle, WA; her nieces Lisa Robichaud and her husband Michael of Andover, Dodie Clancy and her husband Kevin of Haverhill, Meagan Dimario and her husband Robert of Atkinson, NH, as well as nephews Anthony Fritschy of Lowell, MA, Peter Fritschy of Pelham, NH, and the late Martin Fritschy and his wife Doreen of Lawrence, MA. She also leaves behind several generations of nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is predeceased by her sister, Bernice Fritschy, and husband Anthony.

In honoring her wishes, no calling hours will be held. A private graveside service will take place in the spring.
Roberta’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed.

May she rest in peace.
