Roberta J. “Bobbie” (Walensa) Furth, age 90, of North Andover, former resident of Binghamton, NY, passed peacefully in her sleep September 25, 2024 at Ashland Farm Assisted Living in North Andover. She was the beloved wife of 48 years, to Gary W. Furth, who passed in 2004.
Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, September 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Emily (Thomas) Walensa. She graduated from Euclid High School and furthered her education by graduating from Kent State University in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was a sixth grade teacher who cared for and supported her students at Chenango Forks Central School (New York) for over 30 years.
She had many hobbies over the years - included bridge, quilting, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, doll making, candle making and ceramics. Additionally, she loved her NY Yankees and nightly gin & tonic.
She is survived by her three daughters, Lynn Centariczki and husband Peter of Merrimac, MA, Laura Getz and husband Robert of St. Kitts, West Indies, and Lisa Miller and husband Michael of Arden Hills, MN; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, who filled her heart with immeasurable joy, along with extended family and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Dolores Phillips.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff of the Harbor Unit of Ashland Farms. Their care and attention are gratefully appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Binghamton for Roberta at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to go to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Roberta J. Furth.
