With heavy hearts we announce the death of Roger L. Bonsang, age 89, of Salisbury Massachusetts.
Born on May 31, 1935, to George and Irene Bonsang in Salem, Massachusetts. He was the devoted husband of Carol A. Bonsang for 56 years. Roger was the loving father of Dawn & Dennis Poussard, the late Wayne Traversy, Roger & Stacy Bonsang and Keith & Erin Bonsang. He also was a wonderful grandfather to Christopher Traversy, Brad Traversy, Jamie Traversy, Shawn Traversy, Saramarie Asher/Holmes, Taylor J. Poussard, Ashleigh Poussard and Owen Bonsang. Roger also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who he adored with all of his heart.
Grampy was hardworking and dedicated as can be. He spent four years in the military, Army, he was a very honorable and respectful man. He worked many years at Lloyd Laboratories as a Dye research and development technician. Roger’s greatest possession in life was his family.
Through the years as his family grew and grew, so did his generosity and giving. He was everyone’s Grampy and he welcomed all who came and went. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and left a lasting impact on everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. He spent many years raising his family at his favorite place, Pine Hill Park. He loved gardening and backyard cookouts. He loved playing cribbage and cards with his many friends. He loved to sing and dance, usually both at the same time.
He is survived by his 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and his loving wife and was predeceased his son, Wayne. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Grampy, Our Hero.
A church service will be held on Friday, April 25th at 11 A.M. at the Main Street Congregational Church, 145 Main Street, Amesbury, MA. All are welcome to join the family for a reception at the Church Hall following the service.
