Sharon Ann (Bates) Walsh

d. October 16, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Sharon Ann (Bates) Walsh, age 78, of Newburyport, on October 16, 2024, at AdviniaCare Nursing Home in Newburyport. Sharon passed peacefully after struggling with Alzheimer’s for ten years.

Sharon was born in Quincy, MA on March 31, 1946, to the late Harold James Bates and Rachel Marie (Mastrianni) Bates. She will be remembered for her dedicated work at Hogue Sprague Leasing and her love for activities like volleyball, gardening, and music. Sharon loved to cook and even had a “gourmet club” with her friends where they had a theme and each would make a dish to share. Sharon enjoyed socializing with friends and Sunday was Fun Day! Sharon was also a supporter of the Easter Seals Society.

Sharon is survived by her son, Joseph Walsh of Bidderford, ME; two daughters, Jacqueline Ranger and husband Jeffrey of Kingston, NH, and Cynthia Walsh of Newburyport, MA; five grandchildren, Galen Walsh and Dakota Walsh of Maine, Elizabeth Ranger, Matthew Ranger, and Jonathan Ranger all of Kingston, NH, along with extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her son, James Walsh, and her brother, Harold J Bates, Jr. of Carver, MA.

Visiting hours will be held at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 4-6 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon’s memory can be made to the Easter Seals Society (www.easterseals.com) or the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org) that works in providing Alzheimer’s care and support and accelerating research.

Our beloved Sharon will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will forever live on in our hearts. May she rest in everlasting peace.

The Diva has left the building!
