Shirley E. (Frye) Guilford

Shirley E. (Frye) Guilford, age 90, lifelong resident of West Newbury, MA, passed on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Anna Jaques Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was the devoted wife of 63 years to the late Bernard L. Guilford, Jr., who passed in 2013.

Born in West Newbury, June 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Evelyn A. (Shaw) Frye, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Cleary of Portsmouth, NH and June A. Hamel and husband Philip of Fremont, NH; her only granddaughter, who was her pride and joy, Brittany J. Cristaldi and her husband Garrett of Epping, NH; her Great Grandson Luca who she adored so much; her brother, Ernest F. “Sonny” Frye of West Newbury MA; two nephews, Robert A. Frye, and wife Carol of Merrimac, MA and Charles F. Frye and wife Cindy of FL; along with extended family. She was predeceased by her brother’s wife, Francis “Kay” Frye who passed in 2020. Also, her fur great grand dogs Wesley and Lola who she loved getting kisses from.

A private service will be held for the family with private burial at Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury, where Shirley and Bernie will be laid to eternal rest. Arrangements were by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
