William B. “Buddy” Beard, Jr., age 77, longtime resident of West Newbury, passed on Saturday morning, January 11, 2025 at Lawrence General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband to Louise (Sullivan) Beard, having shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Dorchester, MA, April 4, 1947, he was the son of the late William B. Beard, Sr. and Ellen A. (Weist) Beard and was a graduate of Pentucket Regional High School class of 1966.
Known by many as “Buddy”, he started his own construction business 57 years ago, B. Beard, Jr Trucking, where he did general contracting and trucking in the New England area and storm cleanup for FEMA all over the country.
Buddy was a loving husband, caring father, and the greatest grandfather. He cherished his weekends at the lake with his family or just relaxing at home.
His life’s legacy will always be treasured by his wife, Louise; his children, Christine Clemons and husband Kevin and granddaughter Haley, Nicole Cray and grandson Jacob and granddaughter Madison, Eric Beard and wife Kristen and granddaughter Emma and Grand-dog Murphy, his late son William B. Beard III and grandson William IV his wife Phoebe and grandson Edmund; his sister Elizabeth Rogers and husband Richard; brother Joseph Beard, along with several generations of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends from near and far.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 10 A.M. at St. Ann’s Church of the Holy Redeemer Parish, 300 Main Street, West Newbury, MA followed by a Graveside Service at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Bachelor Street, West Newbury, where “Buddy” will be laid to eternal rest.
