William Daniel O’Callaghan, Jr. of West Newbury, MA, died January 30, 2025 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Marjorie (Clark) O’Callaghan.

Born in Boston, MA on June 19, 1935, he was the son of the late William Daniel O’Callaghan and Bridget (Sexton) O’Callaghan and had worked at Carling Brewery in Natick before retiring in 1995.

Billy, as he was known by many, was an avid fisherman, loved to ski and appreciated Nature, the outdoors. He loved his beautiful flower gardens in his backyard, looking out at the trees, his lawns, and watching the wildlife, and the beauty of it all. The lovely deer that visited every day and the variety of birds that Billy fed are all going to miss this gentle man.

He was proud of his Military service and never tired of telling stories of his time aboard his beloved ship, the USS Stephen Potter. He attended many of his Navy Reunions with Marjorie and fellow shipmates, and was a member of the Tin Can Sailor Association.

He was predeceased by his five brothers, Michael O’Callaghan, John O’Callaghan, Gerald O’Callaghan, Daniel O’Callaghan and Thomas O’Callaghan.

In addition to his beloved wife, Marjorie, he also leaves behind his loving sisters, Margaret McCarthy of West Roxbury, Sheila Leporati of Norwich, CT and Mary Jackson of Auburn, N.H., along with generations of nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.
